New Do

Adeline just got her hair cut and I wanted to see if anyone else thought my 11 year old just turned into a 14 year old while in the hair chair.  As you can see, she was thrilled to see her mom shedding tears over the matter:)

Omaha Heat

We just returned from the College World Series baseball tournament with A.J.'s Super League team.
We played games in the heat, the wind and the cornfields...
We attended the Florida vs. Kent State College World Series Game in the 103 degree heat...
We had a blast at Dave & Buster's...Especially the Dad's who had a basket shooting contest..
And Adeline was the Super Fan as usual.  Thumbs Up is right!

Puppy Graduation

Not to be outdone...Zeus wanted all of his fans out there (so what if there are only 3) to know that he recieved a very prestigious award for graduating Puppy Training Class...Way to go Zeus!

Shake your Groove Thing

Holy Crap, it cannot be the end of the 6th grade already...didn't we just have Back to School Night???
Ok, now that I've composed myself...Welcome to Adeline's end of school dance...
 Whether she is shakin' alone,
or with someone (boys are you kidding me?  I am not ready!)...
She is doing in in style!

Show Choir Finale

There she is in the hot pink shirt...Miss Show Choir herself.
Adeline has sure loved being able to sing and perform in this year.

A.J. the Science Guy

Way to go AJ...he was awarded the Excellence in Science award by his teacher!

Macbeth

In the final days of 6th grade Adeline was learning around 40 lines for her class' rendition of Macbeth...
She did an awesome job as a narrator of the gruesome tale...
I sure hope that Oly Jr. has Shakespeare plays!

Remeber the 80's

My kids sure don't remember the 80's but man has it made a comeback in our household.  It started with a huge container of 80's band tapes (you know the things you used to play on boom boxes?) anyway, Grandpa Dave dropped off all of these old tapes to A.J.  He then decided that he needed a walk-man to play them on as he's well...walkin' man!  Thank goodness Grandma Lori found an old one in her garage she was cleaning out...perfect timing for sure!

Next, check out the shirts we couldn't leave Target without yesterday and by "we" I mean Adeline.  They are neon pink, yellow and orange and they are "radical,  Dude"!

Roman Retirement

Adeline's 6th grade class has been studying all things Roman and Greek..so it was fitting they each made their own Roman Courtyard Houses as part of the studies.  As I walked around the many displays there were courtyards with flower gardens, spaces for family gatherings involving food, dancing spaces, etc.  Adeline couldn't have just any old courtyard though....Here's her version:
Welcome to what awaits you if you are retiring in Ancient Greece...
This courtyard dwelling is a retirement center because heaven knows we all need someplace to go when we are too old to know what is up.  This retirement center comes complete with a Cinnagreek cinnamon roll shop right out back for those times you just have to have a little baked goodness.

As you can see, the roof only covers the outer parts of the building so the sleeping is done mostly around the edges.  What you cannot see (sorry, I am not an amazing photographer) is the small flat beds that I am sure are more comfortable to sleep on than they look.  Each one was made with care and include a pillow.

Adeline told me that if I'm really lucky she'll find me a place like this one when I can't make it to the bathroom by myself anymore...I am one lucky mom!
This is my little hugantic son, A.J. He's one of the reasons I LOVE SPRING!

There is nothing better than sitting in the warm sun and watching a baseball game and I try to make it to them as often as I can.

A.J. plays mostly catcher and pitcher and has been known to hit a few "bombs".
Hey A.J. thanks for showing me how fun watching baseball can be...believe me when I tell you that my 10 year old self would've never believed it.

It's time to JAM

I don't know about you, but I LOVE spring.  Mostly because it involves a fresh batch of homemade Strawberry Jam...I can't eat my pancakes with anything else now.  Those of you who are syrup purists...just trust me on this one, who know's maybe it'll change your pancake world too!

I just use the instructions on the inside of this Sure Jell box for the freezer jam recipe and it turns out great every year.

Here's a look at my "stash"...wish you all lived by me since I made a ton and would love to share.  I think you all should make you own batch and let me know what different kinds you love.  Happy Jamming!

I love a Buffett

This is just for those of you (aah hmm..sisters)that know I never met a buffett table I didn't love to fix up all fancylike...here's my latest attempt at it...

It's a mini dessert bar which includes: chocolate pudding cups, cheesecakes with a blueberry on top, brownie pops, mandarin orange cupcakes and rasberry white chocolate sandwich cookies

Here it is in it's full glory. BTW-it was for the Garden Party Neighborhood Church Night.

Much Ado

Tis the season...for Shakespeare, that is...every spring at Canyon Rim Academy there is a casting call for all 5th and 6th graders to put on a classic tale. This year's was Much Ado About Nothing. Our very own Adeline was cast as a townsperson as well as a dancer in the ballroom scene. I was able to help out by choreographing the dance and it was fun to be involved in the big event.

Way to go Adeline...next up, she will be narrating her class' rendition of Macbeth in May.

Piano Federation

"Excellent". That's what that gold certificate my amazing daughter is holding says. It was earned through hard work and lots of practice on 2 piano pieces that she recently had to memorize and perform in front of judges at the annual Federation competition event held up at the University of Utah. To me, though, it represents more that just her piano playing abilities...it represents her. She truly is an Excellent Girl!

Valentine's Day Dance

This can't possibly be my 6th grade little girl...can it? I mean just look at the lovely pose she is striking and the fact that she is actually excited to go and dance with a boy? I don't know if I am ready for this stage of her (and my) life, but...ready or not...here it comes!
